Medium 8vo., pp clxxxiv, 385, [1] blank and with a map of modern Hy as a frontispiece and a fold-out Genealogical Table of the Early Abbots of Hy. Title-pages printed in red and black. Uncut. Publisher's green cloth, lettered and ruled in gilt, coloured endpapers. The inner hinges have cracked at sometime and have rather rudimentary repair using green cloth bookbinders tape. Text clean. Overall a decent copy. Published as volume VI of The Historians of Scotland. Adamnan was the ninth abbot of Hy (the old name for Iona). The rather scarce original edition.
