Glossy pictorial dustjacket (tear at upper joint area neatly closed), preserved in an archival sleeve. Dustjacket is illustrated from a woodcut of 1648 of the Treaty of Newport from the pamphlet A Declaration of Peace. A full-length study of the men who sided with Charles I in the Civil War but who advised negotiation with Parliament. Produces much material on the royalists' role in the peace talks of the 1640s.
